Shirts with Light Emitting Technology

Nothing has been left through the arms of the science, now technology has been so advanced that an ink has been developed which can print lightening patterns on T-Shirts. This ink has been developed by Dai Nippon Printing Company.

This ink is mixed with silica nano-particles which can form a gel that can be used in the process of printing.

Now this company is trying to develop light emitting posters and different types of clothing, now there is no need of flash light in dark you will glow by wearing simply T-shirts.

Treatment of Cancer through Nanotechnology

Now scientists are working on each and every aspect of the life to make it better.
We often heard the word nanotechnology, now it is going to be used for the treatment of diseases, because when materials are reduced to the size of one millionth of centimeter, then they exhibit special properties which are being used in making of medicines, cosmetics, water purification, etc.

Most of the scientists working in the New York, “The New University”, they have now developed nanofibers, which can take the medicines and drugs to the exact diseased area that need to be attacked. This will also prevent the other normal parts of the body from side effects.

These nanofibers will takes the anti-cancer drugs to the accurate cancerous sites that need to be cured.

Is Rain is Produced through Bacteria ?

We had still used bacteria’s in foods and making some medicines, but scientists belonging from Sweden have proposed that bacteria excretes certain types of surfactants that may cause the formation of clouds and lead to rain.
Evidence had been found in the Barbara Naziere at the University of Stockholm that some powerful surfactants secreted by some bacteria helps in creation of water droplets.
A study had bee done over clouds above Brazil, Sweden and Finland has shown that they contain tiny amounts of substances same as surfactants secreted by bacteria.
Now it depends upon us that how can we take benefit of these useful bacteria’s.

Beware of Drone Insects as they can See now !!

US military has a fitted mini camera on insects sized aircraft, so they can transmit sound and photographs.
These cameras are very light and fitted on a single micro chip. Known as “Insects drones”, these are very effective and are controlled about a kilometer away with the help of its estimated frequency.
This device was funded by NASA and developed by Caltech’s Jet Propulsion Lab in Pasadena.
This device will help a lot in secret missions of crime investigation, military purposes and for security purposes etc.

Let imagine a fly sitting on your wall and transmitting your videos as well as your voice.

Can We See with the Help of our Tongue?

A new hope for blind peoples, a time will come when their will be no existence of blindness in this world.

“Wicab” is the company, based in Wisconsin, and in United States has developed a device for blind peoples that allow blind persons to partly see with the help of their tongues.

It consists of a small digital video camera that is fixed into the sunglasses worn by the blind person, which transmits digital signals from the camera into a small base unit that converts these signals into electrical pulses.

These pulses when received are then transmitted into a “lollipop” like device which lies on the tongue. Blind person will then feel the tingling sensations through his tongue which allow him to sense his surroundings.

But some kind of training and practice must be required to fin his way through doors, find various switches and other little sensitive objects.

This device will be marked soon but how much will be costly no one knows yet, lets hope for the best.

Devices to Detect Swine Flue & other Diseases !!

Most of the countries are now struggling to build such devices that can detect diseases automatically.

Therefore most of the airports are installing such devices that can detect flue, fever and other diseases to make their air travel safe and to protect others from it.
Some of the airports had already installed infrared cameras to detect their passengers suffering from fever, due to this technology a patient of swine flu was detected in Turkey but this method is still doesn’t match high perfection.

In recent days Japanese Government has started GPS system that will allow mobile phone users to know about any kind of infection they have, this system will automatically detect when a person talk on a cell phone.

Cough detector has also been developed that will distinguished between a people clearing his/her throat from the cough of a sick person.

Can Paper Be Stronger than Iron !!

Now it is going to be almost everything possible what we had thought in past about their impossibility, one can hardly believe that, One day will come when paper become stronger than Iron, but it is true.

At the royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, researchers prepared a special type of nano paper which strong enough, that is bullet proof.

This paper is made of cellulose fibers that are tightly woven; these fibers are one millionth of a millimeter in thickness. These are so closely and tightly engaged that they produce a tight network of even a strong bullet proof paper.
This type of paper is prepared by digesting wood pulp with enzymes and chopping the fibers in to a strong paper.

God knows better what will be the next in the minds of humans.

Recycling Energy from Roads and Vehicles !!

We haven’t thought that at one time we will also generate electricity from running vehicles.

But now Engineers had developed such a shock absorber that will take advantage of bouncy and unsmooth roads. This observer will convert energy that emerges from road jumps into electricity. This will be sufficient for running the other components of vehicles such as video LCD or to charge the battery.

Recycling Energy from Roads
BMW and Honda are now trying to develop such a devices that will capture the energy from the engine, that exhausts on braking process.
But the most amazing and highly beneficial project that is under process in UK and Israel, is to collect energy from the roads, this energy will comes due the heavy traffic traveling on the road, they will use generators to convert such energy into electricity.

We see thousands of vehicles pass daily on the roads, and if we reach to store that energy that may be used for street lights, road lights and for other purposes also.

It means water is not just a single source of electricity generation, but there are others too but the only thing is to utilize them.

New Hope for Knee Joints Patients !!

Knee joint pain arrives mostly at the age of 40 to 50, this type of pain arrives when cartilages loses its efficiency due to passage of time and wear out. The main purpose of cartilages are to reduce friction between knee joints, we feel pain when this friction increases.

Lots of efforts are done to produces artificial cartilages to replace the natural that wear out, but the effort was still incomplete.

But now a new research had been done at the Weizmann Institute of Space in Israel and developed low friction joints, all this credit goes to Jacob Klein.

These joints are made of polymer with molecular brushes at its surface. The purposes of these brushes are to attract water molecules which provides sheath as they slide over each other, which automatically reduce friction.

Beef Burgers leads towards Global Warming !!

We had never ever thought that the food we are consuming in the shape of meat will contribute to global warming.

The meat we take almost daily in any shape between burgers or in meals, contains some components in it that contribute to global warming.

Animal produce methane gas in the process of digestion that leads towards global warming, it is studied that methane is 23 time dangerous than carbon dioxide, because only few ounces of methane is equal to 4 to 5 pounds carbon dioxide which also add to global warming.

Now to researchers are thinking to produce such kind of fodder for animals that contribute less to global warming.

If meat is compared with chicken and potatoes then meat produces 13 time more then chicken and 57 times more then potatoes to global warming.

Latest survey tells that in USA the persons that consume beef daily contribute to such a large green house gas that it is sufficient to drive a car for 1800 miles.

So don’t forget while taking a single bite of beef burgers.

Learning Abilities of Robots, Now same like Children !!

Robots will now learn same as children learn from their surroundings when they grow up.

In Genova robots are now designed with such abilities that they learn from their surroundings, this practice is going on in an Italian Institute of Technology in Genova.

These robots are toddler in size and their brain is designed in such a way that they learn from their environment same as newly born baby does.

Scientist has named “iCub” to this toddler robot; this robot gives an insight to scientists to understand that how humans learn from their environment. This new robot “iCub” can clasp objects and have the ability to recognize human faces and detect objects. Scientists are now arguing that with the passage of time this toddler “iCub” will speak, catch the ball in mid air and even recognize different voices.

US 125 millions are granted to almost 11 European Universities from European Union, to work together on such iCubs, twenty iCubs are manufactured and sent to various laboratories where they will be trained and tested.

Robots are much important in every aspect that may be potential, industrial or in armies, it is no doubt to say that one day the country with advance robots will be at the top.

Cloning Plants !!

It is now possible to produce thousands of plants commercially without using seeds.

A leaf is divided into small pieces and placed in a test tube in a chemical medium containing nutrients and growth hormones. After about six to eight weeks shoots start to develop which are cut off and placed in another medium. Once the root has been formed, the plant is transferred to soil in an environment with high humidity, usually green house. When the leaves have been formed, the plants can usually survive in less humid environment.

Plants with certain desirable properties, e.g. color of flowers, size or taste of fruits etc, can be thus multiplied, since the cloned products produced, being genetically identical, will have the same characteristics as the parent.

The procedure works well in the manufacture of orchids, bananas and many other plants and is cost effective because of mass production of plants with desirable traits.

Mending the Heart Problems will become Easy!!

A heart disease remains the single biggest killer today. Rapid advances in stem cell research in recent years offer new hope for heart patients as they have the potential of generating different types of heart tissues.

A number of heart cell therapy trails are being conducted in USA, Germany, UK Korea and Brazil with stem cells, usually derived from the bone marrow of the patient themselves. Chien and co-workers at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston have found evidence regarding how stems cells may be converted into different types of heart tissues from a pool of multipotent cells.

Stems cells may thus offer a way to treat failing heart in the future.

Genome Sequencing !!

The first human genome to be fully sequenced cost about 60 million US dollars and was completed in May 2006, although the rough draft was announced in 2003after 13 years of effort.

Due to spectacular advances in sequencing technologies, the sequencing of the entire genome of James Watson was accomplished last year in just 2 months at a cost of one million Us dollars.

Purpose of Sequencing
Machines are under development which may be able to do it in days for under a thousand a dollars. A simpler form of genetic analysis which can cost only a few hundred dollars provides information about point mutation in person's DNA which are linked to Traits and susceptibility to diseases. This may allow us to take precautionary measures before the disease actually occurs.

Preventing Brain Damage !!

Brain damage that can result from a stroke or heart attack can leave a patient permanently disabled.

Scientist have been grappling with the problem through timely administration of drugs or surgical interventions.

Interestingly it has been discovered that slowly cooling the brain by two to four degrees centigrade (at a rate of one degree per hour) can slow down or possibly prevent the process of brain damage. This is achieved by flow of cold air, use of a cold helmet or administration of a cold spray of perfluorocarbon droplets through the nose.

This process appears to be better than trying to cool the whole body as that can lead to infections and pneumonia.

Invisible Universe !!

We can see about only four percent of our universe. About 74 percent of it is accounted for by a mysterious force called "dark energy", while another 22 percent is composed of an invisible matter, termed as "dark matter". It is a big puzzle in cosmology and particle physic, to determine what this missing mass composed of.

In 2005, Astronomers at Cardiff University have discovered a galaxy some 50 million light years away which appears to be made up entirely of invisible dark matter.

About 96 percent of our universe is therefore not composed of "normal" visible matter but of invisible dark matter and dark energy. We know very little about these strange and mysterious forces around us. This is therefore a huge unsolved mystery.

Gaint Ice Chunks !!

In February 2002, 20 pound chunks of ice fell from clear blue skies in Madrid, Spain and crashed through the roof of an industrial ware house. More than 50 such events have been reported in different parts of the world in the last seven years.

According to the astrobiologist, Jesus Martinez-Frias at the centre for astrobiology in Madrid. Climate experts have been predicting extreme weather events such as powerful hurricanes or droughts but no one ever thought that huge chunks of ice could appear suddenly from clear skies, shattering wind shields and destroying roofs of houses and buildings.

Such monster ice chunks called "megacryometeros" can weight up to 200 pounds. They are believe to be formed in the lower atmosphere (troposphere) due to atmospheric turbulence. This results in repeated coating of the ice-crystals as they are thrown in the turbulence and progressively grow into monster sizes.
This is thought to be the direct result of climate change which has resulted in increased humidity and turbulence in the troposphere.

Improvements in Performance of Heart !!

When a heart is weakened, its ability to deliver oxygen containing blood may be compromised.

An exciting approach that is being investigated to tackle such conditions is to somehow induce the blood to deliver a greater amount of the oxygen that it is carrying. The Nobel Laureate Professor Jean Marie Lehn at the University of Strasbourg, France took mice with damaged hearts and by using a particular chemical compound (myo-inositol trispyro phosphate, ITPP) the blood in these mice was induced to release more oxygen.
Normally hemoglobin can release only about 25 percent of the oxygen, but this chemical results a dramatic improvement in the physical performance of the mice. If the compound was taken dissolved in water, the exercise levels in mice were boosted 35 percent while if given by injection there was 60 percent rise. The substance hold promise for its eventual use in medicine.
In future this chemical will did a lot for our hearts.

Carnivorous Robots Invented !!

A new invention took place in the world of robotics. James Auger and Jimmy Loizeau at the Royal College of Art London have designed a number of domestic robots that will lure and eat up flies and other small moving insects. They will also benefit from the process by deriving energy from the swallowed insects.
This is because they are powered by an internal microbial fuel cell installed within the robots which run by this process.

The idea of using vermin as fuel was first proposed by a UK based company, Bristol Robotics Lab, who had developed the first fly-powered robot in 2004, an proposed that similar marine robots could be developed which could survive on plankton.

A self-watering Desert Plant !!

The desert Rhubarb (Rheum palaestinum) found in the Negev desert in Israel has leaves which can reach one meter in diameter, whereas other desert plants have small and spiky leaves. Israel scientists have discovered that it had unique self-watering mechanism that allows this to happen. They claim that this is the first example of self-irrigation in the plant ever found. The waxy leaves of the plant have deep and wide channels resembling a mountainous range that allows the droplets of water to be captured and then guided so that they fall on the soil near the roots of the plant.
Even in light rain, the water that fell near the roots was ten times more than that fell in other areas near the plant, due to this built in harvesting mechanism.

In Future we will see the Buried peoples under the Collapsed Building !!

Professor Justin Wark and colleagues at the department of Physics in Oxford University have made an interesting discovery. When aluminium was bombarded briefly with powerful soft x-rays lasers, a core electron in every atom of its crystalline structure seems to be displaced, and it becomes completely transparent.

In another related development, scientists working at Imperial College London and University of Neuchatel (Switzerland) have shown that it is possible to have lasers pass through solid objects. They prepared some nano-crystals and when laser was passed through them the nano-crystals become transparent.
This discovery may lead to our ability to see through solid subjects, such as people buried below a collapsed building, and do away with the need of X-ray in medicine.
